Stardate 05.05.2020.E: Stallone Is Promising More 'Demolition' In Our Future

1993's Demolition Man is one of those are Science Fiction releases that benefits from the passage of time.

As best as I can recall, this was a Sylvester Stallone release that wasn't thought of all too fondly at the time.  Audiences -- or perhaps it's more accurate to say Stallone fans -- were pretty hyped about the film when it screened in theatres; but otherwise it was critically drubbed despite the fact that the script was occasionally funny if not even occasionally prescient.  Plus, Stallone had a reasonable amount of chemistry with a young Sandra Bullock, and the driving hatred between Sly's 'John Spartan' and Wesley Snipes' 'Simon Phoenix' is the stuff great genre flicks are made of.

Now, this is obviously very early if it's true at all, but apparently Stallone lit up the internet the other day (so says JoBlo.com) with word that he's been speaking with the powers that be at Warner Bros. about developing a sequel to the property.  He even goes so far as to imply that a possible script is being worked on.

Given that the aging action star still has a modest amount of box office clout, I guess that another adventure exploring Spartan's time in tomorrow could show promise.  And stranger things have definitely happened.

As always, thanks for reading ... and live long and prosper!
