James Wan is an increasingly busy storyteller.
He first dropped on to my personal radar with his work in The Conjuring series of flicks. (While I'm not a huge fan of traditional Horror, films that tinker with growing the mythology around the supernatural have always been of interest.) His silver screen adaptation of Aquaman for DC Comics was pretty spiffy, though I'll admit I grew a bit tired of the pervasive CGI in the feature's latter half (though I certainly understand its use since none of these undersea kingdoms exist for filming purposes). And now it looks like he's getting into the business of Science Fiction with the development of Hunting Season per Empire Online.
According to the article, Hunting Season is based on a 1951 tale involving a law officer sentenced to the past where he will be hunted down and killed by a time-traveling posse. It sounds a bit derivative, but keep in mind that the original story is 70 years old and perhaps inspired countless other authors and screenwriters to concoct their own similarly-themed adventure.
