For better or for worse, Nathan Jung was known as Star Trek's "other Khan" when the third season of the beloved Gene Roddenberry program brought history's 'Ghengis Khan' to (kinda/sorta) life in 1969's "The Savage Curtain." It probably isn't anyone's favorite episode, but it definitely tried to stick to the morality play formula the show made so popular.
Word reached me this morning via a mailing list that Mr. Jung has left us, and I wanted to get a notice up for readers.
Perusing his profile at IMDB.com, the man was no stranger to genre projects. Though his resume includes only fifty-seven citations (if any of us could be so lucky), he definitely enjoyed a bit of screen time in Science Fiction and Fantasy. His work is on display for posterity's sake in such entities as Monster Squad, The Amazing Spider-Man, Manimal, Big Trouble In Little China (1986), Darkman (1990), The Shadow (1994), and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman. Those are some quality appearances, if I do say so myself.
