Presently, it's called Outsiders, though IMDB.com reports it has screened previously in 2021 under its original title No Running. (I suspect that's film festival appearances and not a theatrical run.) Directed by Delmar Washington, the SciFi/Thriller stars Taryn Manning, Cooper van Grootel, and Clark Backo; and here's the plot summary as provided by our friends at IMDB.com:
"A Black high school student finds himself under suspicion after his classmate's mysterious disappearance."
In any event, I stumbled across the film based on an article at a competing website, which put me in the position to do a bit of digging into its prospects. Though I've found no scheduled release, its festival plays have garnered a kinda/sorta low 4.1 review rating on IMDB.com (not awful, but not good, either); and I read a brief interview piece with the director who apparently wants to talk about "racial tensions in America" rather than tell me anything substantive about the work. Yeah, it's a bit nebulous, but in an era when soundbytes can make or break a project I'm hoping the production actually delivers a solid story instead of pushing a storyteller's political agenda.
The trailer is good, but as always I'll caution that I never make too much of coming attractions as they're crafted to stir up interest. I'll post it below, and you folks know what to do about that.
