Jaime Murray looks lovely in both Earth-form as well as her alien self as seen above. Syfy's Defiance is lucky to have her sensual gravitas, eh? July 21st has more than a few surprises to offer, so make sure you check it out thoroughly.
July 21 Have yourself a wonderful Monday, and I'll see you soon! Her name is Natalie Wood, and not long before she had a terrible accident in real life she was playing in the genre of Sci-Fi in a film called Brainstorm. Read about it and more in July 20th's edition of On This Day In Science Fiction History!
July 20 Have a spectacular day, and I'll see you in 24 hours! Some day, it just doesn't pay to inform others on what history holds for Science Fiction ... but that doesn't make our genre any less charming! Truth is: it doesn't pay at all, and I still do it! For now, it's only three entries; but as my library continues to grow, I suspect it'll be much larger this time next year!
July 19 Have a terrific day, and I'll see ya tomorrow! I think the biggest reason that I admire what Aliens did following on the heels of the first Alien picture is that it seamlessly re-invigorated the franchise by being true to the original but seeking out almost entirely new narrative territory on its own. The two films are uniquely different, but watch them together and marvel at how they complement (or is that compliment?) one another. It's genius filmmaking done back-to-back nearly a decade apart.
What else does today have in store for you? July 18 Have a wonderful day! Wow. That first Robocop movie? Paul Verhoeven's classic take on man versus machine? Just wow. If you haven't seen it, then I revoke your right to call yourself a Geek. Get off your duff, get down to the local video store, and get it done. Your move, creep.
July 17 Have yourself a great day, and I'll be back at you tomorrow! Welcome to reality for July 16th! Or is it? Is this real? Is the top still spinning? Is Leonardo DiCaprio what you perceive as the world's savior? Are is he just another bad actor in some expensive Italian suit? If you want to know the answer, then you're going to have to follow the link:
July 16 Have yourself a wonderful day, and I'll see you tomorrow! I don't know about you, but I certainly can't imagine what quality genre entertainment would be without the participation of the legendary Terry O'Quinn. Even today, he continues to pop up in the most unlikely places, but here's my tip to Mr. O'Quinn: stay away from convention drama. It's just not in your best interest. Genre fans love you best!
What else might July 15th have in store? Follow the link and see ... July 15 That's all for now, but I'll be looking for what makes tomorrow special. You can bank on it. You know that when even The Muppets will jump on board that whole Science Fiction train that there's a good thing going, no? July 14th is up and ready for your approval!
July 14 Have yourselves a tremendous Monday, and I'll see ya tomorrow ... if not sooner! You'll have to pardon a very un-Sci-Fi film reference (Stuart Saves His Family) to headline July 13's entry into On This Day In Science Fiction History, but it's late, I'm tired, and it was the best I could come up with entirely in the moment. Whatever. However, don't pass up this chance to take a gander at what lies in our memory banks for this day; methinks you'll be impressed.
July 13 Have a terrific day, and I'll see you tomorrow! Although Ripley seems to get much of the credit, all one need do is take a seriously look at the pantheon of great Science Fiction films to know how many tough women somehow manage to come front-and-center in the stories of our beloved genre. Which one in particular is worth celebrating On This Day In Science Fiction History? You'll have to click through in order to know for sure.
