If you've explored outer space -- and, yes, that means even fictional outer space -- then you deserve a mention here.  The fellow at the head of that table is actor Walter Brooke, and he called the shots in Conquest Of Space (1955).  But this long-time character actor also scored small roles in such properties as Tales Of Tomorrow, Inner Sanctum, The Wonderful World Of The Brothers Grimm (1962), The Twilight Zone, Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea, The Munsters, The Green Hornet, The Invaders, The Wild Wild West, Marooned (1969), The Andromeda Strain (1971), The Return Of Count Yorga (1971), The Astronaut (1972), The Sixth Sense, Stowaway To The Moon (1975), Time Travelers (1976), The Big Bus (1976), Gemini Man, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Nude Bomb (1980), The Incredible Hulk, Buck Rogers In The 25th Century, and Automan.  Though he's no longer with us, Brooke was born on this day in 1914.

One of the oft-overlooked SciFi dramas to come out of the 1980's remains 1984's Iceman.  It starred Timothy Hutton as a scientist who unearths a frozen caveman (played convincingly by the great John Lone) and, together, they strive to better understand one another in the current world.  Lone also played the villainous Shiwan Khan in The Shadow (1994).  Lone was born on this day in 1952.

Chris Carter's original inspiration for Fox TV -- The X-Files -- is a brilliant blend of Science Fiction and conspiracy yarns throughout much of its nine-season run on the network.  Since then?  Well, X has struggled to remain relevant in an era where each day brings a new government conspiracy bigger than the one yesterday.  Still, maybe Carter is due for a comeback on the silver screen.  Carter was born on this day in 1956.

For the record:
To the man's credit, Carter received eight nominations from the Primetime Emmy Awards for a variety of episodes he helped bring to life across The X-Files mostly impressive run on television.

Perhaps I don't give actors enough credit, but I believe anyone can play a villain ... still, not everyone can play a villain as masterfully as Wayne Pygram did in the role of Scorpius on Farscape.  The stories were richer when he was around, and he had a chemistry unmatched among most of his Peacekeeper peers.  Plus, Pygram was also bestowed with playing the role of Tarkin -- albeit super-briefly -- in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith.  He was born on this day back in 1959.

Yes, 2005's superhero-themed comedy Sky High is far more fantasy than it is Science Fiction ... so sue me if I have a soft spot for hotties who play dress up.  So, Kelly Preston, any time you want to strap on some spandex and go flying in the movies, we'll always shout it from the rooftops.  Though she's no longer with us, Preston was born on this day in 1962.

I've admitted before that I've never been all that interested in the Stargate: SG-1 franchise; however, I'll always give out high praise to the 'alien in the bunch,' so kudos to Christopher Judge!  He's put tremendous effort into bringing the otherworldly warrior Teal'c to life on the long-lasting program.  Other work in genre projects included stops to First Wave, Andromeda, X-Men: Evolution (animated), He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe (animated), Paradox (2010), The Dark Knight Rises (2012), Mega Shark Vs Mecha Shark (2014), Flashes - The Director's Cut (2014), Reaper (2014), LA Apocalypse (2015), and Minutes To Midnight (2018).  Judge was born on this day in 1964.

ABC TV's Lost program went through various stages of popularity along with more than a fair share of viewer angst, much of which found its way online in various forums.  One of the show's least popular characters -- Nikki Fernandez -- came and went fairly quickly, and methinks that was largely owed to the aforementioned angst.  Actress Kiele Sanchez did what she could with a fairly two-dimensional character, and Sanchez was born on this day in 1977.

Editor's Note:

Back in the day -- way before streaming and home video options -- one of the tricks that producers could employ to convince major studios to invest in expensive projects was to shoot a property for U.S. television broadcast but also make plans to release it theatrically.  Sometimes this was done domestically (typically with a limited release so as to not eliminate prospects for a solid homegrown audience) but more often than not it was done outside the country wherein weekly TV broadcasts relied on syndication deals or other agreements.  Popular TV producer Glen Larson did this with Battlestar Galactica on a few occasions (in unique and creative ways), and this was BSG's first theatrical presentation ever ... and it was behind the Maple Curtain up north of the U.S. in Canada.  Frak!
