Nothing but nothing can keep a good girl down -- or is that a bad girl? -- and such is the case for Ms. Vampy! On this day in 2009, this bloodsucking damsel -- a creation of actress Brooke Lewis Bellas -- premiered her very own genre-themed talk show -- Ms. Vampy -- where this fast-talking lady could dispense advice to the other monsters in her audience. Here's the series' premise as provided by our good friends at IMDB.com:
"Ms. Vampy is America's funniest, sexiest, sassiest and most high maintenance vampire! Her personality is as big as her hair and is often described as Betty Boop meets Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny. She loves pleather and fur and wouldn't be caught "dead" without high heels! But, there's much more to this loveable vampiress. While she looks young and vibrant, Ms. Vampy is one of the oldest gals on earth. At 110-years-old, she was born in 1899 in Transylvania. She was a shy and innocent child, but after a few too many shots of Lauder's Scotch Whisky on her 18th birthday, she jumped on the bike of a tattooed mate and sealed her fate! Moments after being bitten, she grew wildly thick hair, fangs, plump lips, bodacious tatas, and an insatiable sex drive. As she puts it, "I went from being a brainy bookworm to a blood-loving, vampire sexpot in just minutes." In the 1920s, Ms. Vampy's travels took her to New York and she fell in love with Brooklyn. It was there where she developed her attitude, sarcastic sense of humor, and ridiculous accent. She spent most of her time in the big apple filming movies and seeing Broadway shows, but she has a secret many don't know...Ms. Vampy went crazy for Philadelphia Eagles football and soon became an assistant coach, but was fired after one month for not showing up to any day games. She moved back to New York for a short time, but a torrid love affair with a very jealous and young Wall Street vampire went bad, so she headed west to seek out new friends and victims. These days, Ms. Vampy lives in her Hollywood Villa and is often seen on night shoots, shopping in Beverly Hills for Dior or hanging out at Lakers' games with her horror friends. She loves 80s rock and disco, her favorite band is Vampire Weekend and she never misses American Idol or Millionaire Matchmaker on TV. Her secret dream is to join the cast of HBO's True Blood (of course, she thinks it's a "reality" show)! She enjoys Godiva Chocolates and Bloody Marys and she loves to play Xbox when she's feeling feisty. While she has yet to marry or have children, she freely admits to being boy crazy and hopes to someday make-out with Robert Pattinson. Ms. Vampy is forever sexy, funny, young, and obnoxious, but her heart is as big as her mouth. If she ever bites you, it'll be with love."

I gave Syfy's expensive dystopian SciFi program Defiance a look ... for about all of six episodes. Nothing about the characters and situations really grabbed me. Sure, it had a nice vibe to some of the alien cultures, but there was too little to maintain my interest. Actress Julie Benz -- as 'Mayor Amanda Rosewater' -- gave the show some of its moral core. As for other genre appearances? Feel free to add to the mix with stops aboard Two Evil Eyes (1990), Sliders, Darkdrive (1997), Satan's School For Girls (2000), Roswell, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Taken, Angel, Locusts: The 8th Plague (2005), Supernatural, Punisher: War Zone (2008), No Ordinary Family, and V.C. Andrews' Heaven. Plus, who doesn't appreciate a smokin' hot blonde? Benz was born on this day back in 1972.

Screen legend Glenn Ford only dabbled briefly in the wonderful world of Science Fiction, but perhaps his most memorable contribution was playing (to perfection) the role of Jonathan Kent in 1978's Superman - The Movie. While he arguably gravitated more toward mainstream and dramatic fare, genre fans can catch glimpses of his greatness aboard The Disappearance Of Flight 412 (1974), The Visitor (1979), and Virus (1980). Though he's no longer with us, Ford was born on this day in 1916.

John Meredyth Lucas was only one of many Jack-Of-All-Trades who toiled behind-the-scenes to help make the original Star Trek what it was as a classic Science Fiction series. He not only produced hours but also wrote and directed them, contributing to such adventures as "The Changeling," "Patterns of Force," and "Journey to Babel." Additionally, he scripted several episodes of the popular mid-1970's SciFi/Action series The Six Million Dollar Man. Though he's no longer with us, Lucas was born on this day in 1919.

The lovely Joy Harmon blazed a trail in cinema history for the way she washed a car in Cool Hand Luke (1967), but thankfully she committed some time to genre projects like The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Batman, and Village Of The Giants (1965) so that we can mention her here. Harmon was born on this day in 1940.

Stephen Macht is one of those actors who has been around long enough that he's such a familiar face. Macht was born on this day in 1942.

IMDB.com reports that the last screen gig for English-born Cyd Hayman was in the late 1990's, but she managed to squeeze in nearly fifty different roles before then. Hayman was born on this day in 1944.

Detroit-born Anne Fletcher is another one of those 'Jack of all trades' who can do anything. Not only is she an actress but also she dances, choreographs, produces, and directs! Seriously, she can do it all! In fairness, her genre credentials are a bit light, but she's enjoyed a modest amount of screen time aboard Scream 2 (1997) and the ill-fated Catwoman (2004) so I'll still give her props. Fletcher was born on this day in 1966.

"Robocop saves the day once more. This time the half man/half robot takes on ruthless developers who want to evict some people on 'their' land."

I wouldn't exactly say that 'the third times a charm' for RoboCop as audiences and critics were largely disappointed with this outing. Not only did we lose the greater Peter Weller in the central role, but the script also kills off Murphy's parter, Anne Lewis (Nancy Allen). Still, the Academy Of Science Fiction, Fantasy, And Horror Films gave it nominations (in 1994) for 'Best Supporting Actress' and 'Best Science Fiction Film.'
