Folks, I noticed a post on Facebook this morning that informed me of the passing to the much celebrated costume designer Jean-Pierre Dorléac.

For posterity's sake, I'm copying and pasting below his information from the April 12th Daily Citation Page in order to try to cover all of the details of his storied career in genre entertainment.

Award-winning costume designer Jean-Pierre Dorléac definitely left a mark while travelling through the realms of the Fantastic.  Genre fans have been able to marvel at his designs showcased in such projects as Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers In The 25th Century, Galactica 1980, Somewhere In Time (1980), Tales Of The Gold Monkey, Manimal, The Greatest American Hero, Airwolf, Knight Rider, Automan, Max Headroom, The Highwayman, Quantum Leap, and Heart And Souls (1993).  Though he's no longer with us, Dorléac was born on this day in 1943.

For the record:

• At the 1980 Saturn Awards, Dorléac received nominations in the category of 'Best Costumes' for his work on both Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers In The 25th Century.  While he missed out for his work on BSG, he did take home the trophy for the costuming he did on Buck Rogers.
• At the 1981 Saturn Awards, Dorléac received top honors for his work aboard Somewhere In Time (1980) in the category of 'Best Costumes.'
• At the 1979 Primetime Emmys, Dorléac took home the big trophy in the category of 'Outstanding Costume Design For A Series' for his contributions to Battlestar Galactica.
• Across his career, Dorléac received ten other nominations for his costume work from the Primetime Emmys, including work done on Galactica 1980, Tales Of The Gold Monkey, and Quantum Leap.​ ​
