On this day in 1988 (in France), Cameron's Closet was finally opened up -- theatrically, that is -- when it was screened for the very first time for audiences of the International Science Fiction & Fantasy Film Festival. Directed by Armand Mastroianni from a story by Gary Brandner, the film starred Cotter Smith, Mel Harris, Scott Curtis, and others.
According to our friends at IMDB.com, here's the plot summary:
"A father (Tab Hunter) who experiments with his son's (Scott Curtis) psychokinetic powers is unaware that these experiments release a demon from hell, which lives in his son's closet, preparing to take over the young boy's soul."
For the record:
To the film's credit, actor Scott Curtis received a 1988 Saturn Awards nomination in the category of 'Best Performance By A Younger Actor.'
