Lo and behold:
It was on this day in France all the way back in the year 1943 in which Carnival Of Sinners (aka La main du diable) first opened its doors for theatrical business on the artistic midway of life.
Based on the novel Gérard de Nerval, the book was adapted by Jean-Paul Chanois and directed by Maurice Tourneur. The Fantasy/Horror starred such talent as Pierre Fresnay, Josseline Gaël, Noël Roquevert, Guillaime de Sax, Palau, Pierre Larquey, André Gabriello, Antoine Balpêtré, Marcelle Rexiane, André Varennes, and others. According to our friends at IMDB.com, here's the plot summary:
"Roland Brissot bought for a nickel a talisman that gives him love, fame, and wealth. The talisman is a cut left hand, and it works perfectly. Of course, there is nothing free in this world, and after one year, the devil comes and asks for his due."
