I tuned in to AMC's recent Into The Badlands as I'd read in their promotional materials that the program was being billed as a SciFi samurai drama. Why not? Simply put, Aliens was then and remains today nothing short of phenomenal. Multiple films have explored the growing mythology behind the Xenomorphs, and 20th Century Fox even paired the aliens up with the Predator for a picture or two. Still, Aliens won the Oscars for 'Best Sound Editing' and 'Best Special Effects' at the 1987 Academy Awards, and the picture even garnered an acting nomination for Weaver -- a rarity for a SciFi film.
