As can happen from time-to-time, a SciFi series comes at me completely out of nowhere ... and such was the case with the 2019 launch of Ad Vitam. This French language series created by Thomas Cailley and Sébastien Mounier starred such luminaries as Yvan Attal, Garance Marillier, and Niels Schneider. According to our friends at IMDB.com, here's the series' premise:
"In a future where regeneration technology lets humans live indefinitely, a cop and a troubled young woman investigate a strange wave of youth suicides."

Quite probably, Wah Chang's is a name few people recognize much less remember. In his career in the entertainment industry, he worked on art, prop, and creature design for -- quite literally -- hundreds of creations. Those most notably include Voyage To The Planet Of The Prehistoric Women, the original Star Trek, the original Planet Of The Apes, TV's Land Of The Lost, and Star Trek New Voyages: Phase II. Perhaps even cooler in the man's resume, however, is the fact that the original time machine featured in the George Pal film The Time Machine (1960) was designed by Bill Ferrari and built by Chang himself. Quite a feat in the world of Science Fiction, if you ask me! Though he's no longer with us, Chang was born on this day in 1917.

The original Battlestar Galactica boasted many terrific guest stars, such as the great Nehemiah Persoff. The talented actor also booked roles aboard The Twilight Zone, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, The Time Tunnel, Land of the Giants, The Invisible Man, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Bionic Woman, Wonder Woman, Logan's Run (TV), and Star Trek: The Next Generation. That, my friends, is quite a track record! Though he's no longer with us, Persoff was born on this day in 1919.

The diminutive and demure Yoko Tani (above left) built a career out of roles in largely obscure B-movies of her era. Peter O'Toole certainly may not be known for Science Fiction in any regard, but he did headline a wonderful SciFi romantic comedy in the 80's titled Creator. As I've often said, never forget to celebrate 'the little guy,' and -- in Hollywood -- this typically refers to bit players. While the series regulars have much of the responsibility for providing 'the meal' of any particular episode, it's these bit players who are relied on for so much of the flavor. That said, Richard Fancy (above right) can hang with the best of them, having fleshed out smaller roles aboard Starman, ALF, Beauty and the Beast, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Weird Science, Species (1995), Star Trek: Voyager, Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace, Space Above & Beyond, Sliders, and Dark Skies.
