On this day in 1987 (in Italy), Horror came face-to-face with high society for the theatrical release of Opera. Written (in part) and directed by Dario Argento, the film starred Christina Marsillach, Ian Charleson, Urbano Barberini, and others.

"A young opera singer on the cusp of stardom is hounded by a psychopath with a connection to her past, who forces her to watch as he brutally murders her friends and colleagues."
For the record:
To the film's credit, Opera received a wee bit of praise from a screening on the film festival circuit.
