For those who don't recognize the name, Watts was instrumental in helping George Lucas to bring both The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return Of The Jedi (1983) to fruition. He also collaborated with the Lucasfilm founder aboard Raiders Of The Lost Ark (1981), Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom (1984), and Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade (1989). As another feather in his cap, he worked for the Walt Disney Company in bringing Who Framed Roger Rabbit to theaters in 1988.
Interestingly enough, IMDB.com also indicates that before he got into the world of producing, Watts shared responsibilities as production and/or location manager in the 1960's. Lo and behold, the talent worked alongside Stanley Kubrick at some point in delivering the ground-breaking 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) to audiences. That's quite a connection, especially for those of us who relish cinematic Science Fiction and Fantasy as strongly as we do.
Our warmest prayers are extended to the family, friends, and fans of Mr. Watts.
May he rest in peace ...
