On this day in the United States of America (USA, USA, USA!) all the way back in the year 2017, audiences in attendance of the ever popular South By Southwest Film Festival were thrilled with the exclusive theatrical premiere of Life.
Directed by Daniel Espinosa from a story by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the SciFi/Thriller starred Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Hiroyuki Sanada, Ryan Reynolds, Olga Dykhovichnaya, Ariyon Bakare, Jesus Del Orden, Allen McLean, Leila Grace, Mari Gvelesiani, and others.
According to our friends at IMDB.com, here's the plot summary:
"Life tells the story of the six-member crew of the International Space Station that is on the cutting edge of one of the most important discoveries in human history: the first evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars. As the crew begins to conduct research, their methods end up having unintended consequences and the life form proves more intelligent than anyone ever expected."
To the film's credit, Life received a 2018 Saturn Awards nomination in the category of 'Best Science Fiction Film,' an honor that was ultimately bestowed on Blade Runner 2049 instead. Still, Life had the somewhat dubious distinction of being recognized with a nomination by the St. Louis Film Critics Association in the category of 'Worst Film Of The Year.'
Ouch. That's gotta leave a mark.
