On this day in 2000 (in the U.S.), Final Destination enjoyed a special theatrical premiere event before its full U.S. theatrical release. Written (in part) and directed by James Wong, the film starred Devon Sawa, Kerr Smith, Ali Larter, and others.
According to our friends at IMDB.com, here's the plot summary:
"After getting a premonition about a plane crash on his school trip, Alex, a student, saves a few of his classmates. However, their situation gets complicated when death starts chasing them."
For the record:
- At the 2001 Saturn Awards, Final Destination took home top honors in the category of 'Best Horror Film.' Additionally, actor Devon Sawa took home the trophy in the category of 'Best Performance By A Younger Actor.'
- At the 2001 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards, the flick received a nomination in the category of 'Best Wide-Release Film.'
