Well ... why not?
If mankind is going to be subjected to Hollywood's endless fascination with rebooting, retooling, and remaking, then why not go out and find some of the worst pictures ever made and give them a contemporary upgrade?
It would seem that that was exactly what writer/director John Johnson wanted to do. He set out with the grand mission of seizing upon the singular piece of theatrical hodgepodge -- Ed Wood's 1959 piece of cinematic crap Plan 9 From Outer Space -- and gave it some ... erm ... rethinking? Rebranding? Repackaging? I'm not entirely certain what you'd call it only because what he ended up producing maintains only a lackluster 4.0 (out of 10) rating on IMDB.com.
Is that the best we can do ... with a remake?
In any event ...
According to IMDB.com, Plan 9 -- as it was known in the rehash -- enjoyed its first unveiling via a home video release on this day back in 2015 for the great nations of New Zealand and Australia (where the make the dingos). Under Johnson's command, the cast included such illuminaries as Brian Krause, Sara Eshleman, Mister Lobo, Amy Hart, Conrad Brooks, Jerry Moore, Jarod Kearney, Matthew Ewald, Matt Sloan, James Rolfe, and others. Here's the plot summary as provided by our friends at IMDB.com:
"The story of Nilbog, a small town with a big story. The beginning of an invasion. These aliens have a different plan for the inhabitants of Earth. To resurrect their dead as their own army set with but one goal: to wipe out all mankind. This night will decide the fates of all who walk the planet and thought they were the top of the food chain."
For those of you who like that sort of thing, I'm posting the theatrical trailer below ... and you know what to do with that.
As always, thanks for reading ... thanks for sharing ... thanks for being a fan ... and live long and prosper!
