It's a New Year, right? One would think that maybe the Universe would give you a break?
Well, that would be a solid 'no.'
I don't want to get into all of the details regarding just how expensive life has grown in the past few weeks/months because -- alas -- that isn't what I do here on SciFiHistory.Net. Let's just say that the Universe has been decidedly unkind as of late. You try to do good things, and you always hope for the best, but sometimes whoever up there in the great wide open calling the shots sees things differently. You try to adjust, but -- again, alas -- there's always a monkey wrench waiting to be tossed into the machine.
In any event, my laptop decided it was time to take a permanent vacation yesterday.
Absolutely ugh, if you ask me.
So I'm using the wife's personal laptop as a stand-in for the foreseeable, and anyone who has found himself or herself in such a predicament knows all-too-well that that isn't an easy adjustment. As keyboard warriors, we get used to the feel of our own respective machines; and I can't seem to get through a single sentence on the wifey's unit without a spelling error I have to correct here or there. Again, I don't mean to complain: I'm just sharing out of sheer frustration.
In any event, this means that new content to the MainPage and the Daily Citation Pages is going to be somewhat limited over the course of the next few days. I'm doing research for a new machine, but -- as I've implied -- sometimes it pours when it rains, so funds are a bit scant right now. Plus, I want to get the right machine as the last one I picked out after scads of research ended up only lasting 16 months ... trust me, you don't want to hear about it.
I have a review or two that I'm hoping to post -- a Western and another Folk Horror from the good people at Severin Films -- so please do keep your eyes peeled for those. I might get one or the other up later today. But as I'm without my usual graphics software in the interim as well, these new additions might end up being a bit light on pics.
As always, thanks for reading ... thanks for sharing ... thanks for being a fan ... and live long and prosper!
